A security guard is a person who normally available outside the gates of various buildings like large apartments, bungalows, malls, banks, business organizations etc. They have various responsibilities which is important for them to be fulfilled carefully because their one mistake can make others suffer a lot. Hence, the job is considered as full of responsibilities.

The security guards use various tools like metal detectors etc to check all the things properly so that any unwanted or destructive thing never is taken inside the area of surveillance. In this way no one is able to take any weapon in the premises of offices. Another important thing which a security guard should keep in mind is to have a keen observation power. It is important for them to keep an eye on even their dear ones if they come near their surveillance area to avoid any destructive and illegal thing to be happened there.
If they find any person suspicious then must report to the authority immediately. These things make them different from police officers. They are not allowed to arrest anyone. They can respond and can take serious actions against them but are not allowed to arrest them lawfully. Hence, their main duty is to identify the wrong one, catch them red handed and then inform authorities so that they can inform police officers for the further procedure. Hence, they are not law body.
To get appointment on the position, the security guard must be licensed and have required qualifications.
